How to Become an Instagram Influencer and Earn Up to $50K a Month: A Step-By-Step Guide

Brands spend a lot of money on Instagram advertising. In fact, the total spend on Instagram influencers in 2021 is forecasted to reach $8 billion! We’ve interviewed over 50 super-successful Instagram influencers and found the easiest, quickest way to start a profitable social-network business that yields a monthly income of up to $50,000. Read to learn how you, too, can get started and become an Instagram influencer and earn money.

What Does a Day in an Instagram Influencer’s Life Really Look Like?
Instagram Influencers are people who have (as the title suggests) vast influence on a particular audience on today’s most popular social network.

They give advice, recommendations, offer product reviews, feedback, and opinions across a variety of things. Some have a specific niche, and some just review EVERYTHING.

For example, Rebecca Pytell’s niche is “all things gluten-free.” She helps her followers to find the best food brands that cater to their gluten allergy prevention or diet needs.

The sole job of an Instagram influencer is to create and publish unique content. They work the products they promote into the content in a clever and marketable way.

The MOs are endless: They can shoot video tutorials, visual stories via photo albums, a review post, etc. The sky’s the limit when it comes to Instagram content nowadays.

Most Instagram influencers have steady jobs and allocate just a few hours per day to their side gig. So here’s what most influencers we’ve interviewed do during their day:

  • Take photos, shoot videos, write, and publish.
  • Seek collaborations with brands and peers via email and private messages.
  • Answer to partnership propositions sent by companies.
  • Like, share, and comment on other people’s posts to drive more engagement on their content.

That’s literally stuff ANYONE is capable of doing. And it all takes 1-3 hours per day.

Plus – it’s fun!

What Are the Skills You Need to Become an Instagram Influencer
The only skill you need in order to be an influencer on any channel is a unique way of seeing and expressing yourself online.

There are millions of Instagrammers out there; each one wants to be seen and heard. Some are competing with you on the same niche market – so you HAVE to have a unique selling point. Otherwise, you’ll be lost in the crowd.

The best way to stand out and be a successful promoter is: Be yourself!

After all, everyone else is already taken (as Oscar Wilde said).

After you discover your uniqueness, you are free to hone these Instagram skills:

  • A basic understanding of business building and maintaining
  • The creative vision of the niche you’re covering
  • Familiarity with of all your IG account functions
  • Social skills and network abilities
  • Knowledge of the market, product, and companies you are promoting
  • Understanding that you can’t (and shouldn’t) please EVERYONE

The only skill you need in order to be an Instagram influencer is a unique way of seeing and expressing yourself online.

How Much Can You Charge for Promoting on Instagram
Just as in traditional jobs, the salary varies and depends on experience, contribution, and good negotiation skills.

How much you earn as an Instagram influencer relies on you. Put more effort into your content, broaden your reachout potential, increase your followership – and you can make thousands of dollars per month.

If you are just starting, we recommend charging anything between $80 and $150 per post or IG story. If it involved producing an intricate video, include the cost of production in your quote.

Some brands will pay you per 1K followers. So if you have 4,000 followers, you can charge $20 per 1K and earn $80. That is why it’s wise to invest in building your audience before you start partnering with companies.

One of the influencers we’ve interviewed started with 7,000 followers and managed to charge $700.

The product she pushed was relatively pricey, and her engagement rate (likes, shares, comments) was very high. People just loved what she shared. Which brings us back to the first tip: Be unique and generate content that delights.
